they have the care requirements of a dog crossed with a hamster.By that I mean that they need lots o human interaction and a lot of rodent sense(if you have ever kept a pet rat, hamster,or other small fury rodent you might know what I am talking about).hedgehogs require lots of research before you buy.they need a whole lot of running space.you also need to have your hedghog checked for ailments every two months by a specialized vet.I bought munch for 200$ from a breeder in eugene oregon. You should never buy a hedgehog from a pet store as they usually are unhealthy and unhappy and they usually come from a mill.

Actually, after looking at your video I checked the internet. Unfortunately because I live in Brooklyn it's illegal for me to own one.:mad::mad:
But that's not going to stop me from getting one.{D:evil:

What color is your hedgehog considered??? I saw that there's a lot of colorations for them. Yeah also notice that the prices varies by colors, sex, and breeder. Probably going to look into getting one after the semester is over.

Munch is albino.

I would advise for you to not buy a hedgehog if you live where they are illegal. You would need to find an exotic animal veterinarian outside of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, and Manhattan. If there is ever an emergency.often times a breeder will run a background check on the buyer to see if there is history of animal abuse. This check will reveal where you live.If you are lucky enough to get your pet from a breeder in NY then you can see your pet in person and be able to interact with it much like a dog.don't let the first impression fool you,all hedgehogs are shy and defensive when they meet someone new.once you bring your hedgehog home you should start carrying him/her around with you and spend a good 4 hours a day for the first 3 weeks so the hedgehog will bond to you and not be as shy.

Yeah.....Thanx for the advice. I researched and found a couple of breeders in NJ or CT. Like you said earlier, some of the breeders recommend that I come by and look at the little one when they're about 4 weeks old. That way I get to interact and pick the one that I want. They would be ready for purchase by the time they're 6-7 weeks old.
As for the background check and all, I'm not worry about that. I could use my godfather's address in NJ. No sweat!!! Can't wait until after my semester is over. They're too cool to pass up.

So height doesn't really matter??? From what I read and see from that recommendation of your, looks more like spacing huh?? :?
send me a pm and I'll fill you in on how to make your cage great.

That's totally adorable.

That is a gopher snake that I was rehabilitating after someone tried to kill it by slamming it against hard surfaces.

Hedgehogs can swim but I really don't think they enjoy it. At least, I know mine doesn't. It doesn't even like getting its feet wet when I give him his little foot baths. Also, you risk ear infections if water gets in the ear canals.

And that skateboard bit really scared me. Is it just me or does no one else see the danger associated with this type of activity?

Hedgehogs gotta get clean some how.his feet could touch the bottom of the tub.I only put him in there when he's dirty, otherwise the closest he gets to water is the bottle.the skate board was a one time thing just for the video.

All mammals can swim.

It's an adorable animal for sure. You know they eat snakes, right? Even though he was swimming in the tub I would have avoided putting him with traditional food. I would have also put a little less water in, if you want to clean the feet then there is no need for more than wading height.

And I didn't care particularly for the skateboard bit either, because of the other obvious risks involved.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade. Cool that you seem to care a lot about him. However, if you shoved him into that sock I retract that statement.

Giraffes, Great apes, Kangaroos and some others that don't come to mind right now can't swim.

My hedgie, likes water. I should fill the tub up for him more often.

I do agree that putting it with a snake is not the best idea in the world especially if the snake is injured. Hedgehogs tend to poop a lot while they are exercising, often getting a lot on there feet, and you wouldn't want the injured snake getting infections or anything of that nature from the contaminants on the hedgehog.
