My GBB molted the same weekend as my late blondi and is doing quite well. It's back to being quite the cricket ninja. It actually made me jump when I nudged a cricket back down towards its web entrance and it came out for the attack. Anyway, this molt I was expecting it to finally get its blue legs and was quite disappointed when they turned out black. Last night, though, I was looking at it with an LED penlight with an admittedly cool (slightly bluish) light but it was great at bringing out the colors I hadn't noticed before. Turns out the lights I'd been looking at it were on the yellowish side. I know the legs will get prettier as it gets older but it gave me quite the preview of things to come. Gads, what a beautiful spider these C. cyaneopubescens are.

How big is your sling? Mine is 1.5 inches and still doesn't have blue legs yet.

Right now about 2 1/4 inches. Last molt was 7/8/03. It didn't really start eating again until this weekend now it's back to attacking crickets. You should get to this stage with your next molt, maybe. Did yours lose the pink fuzzy leg warmers last molt? There might be some residual orangy hair, but the bands should be gone. The following molt should get you to this instar. If you look at the 3 and 4 legs, you can see how it normally appears. Under the right light, though, the colors just jump out.

Well, here is a picture I just took a few seconds ago of my GBB. Hopefully by next molt he/she will start getting her/his adult coloration.

Oh, yeah. You are two molts behind me. Mine had the fuzzy orangey-pink leg warmers, then they were less fuzzy but still colored like yours, then it lost its orange legs, then finally this molt it got what looked like black legs until I shined the LED light on it and got my surprise.

Oh, yeah, I got a magnifying glass and still couldn't sex it from the molt. Looks like I need at least one more molt to tell.

I guess my GBB is getting there. I'm hoping I have a female though. It's been growing like a weed so I may have a potential male. But GBB's are in the fast to moderate growth pattern so I'm just waiting to see wehat gender my GBB really is.

Oh wow. That is awesome. Judging by the way yours looks, mine should do that on its next molt. I can't wait!

Here is the picture of the previous molt, the one just after where Godzilla's is now. Notice how the leg orange is gone but is still kind of there in the leg bristles.

I guess my GBB will be at that stage of losing the orange on the legs after she/he molts next time around then.

Behaviorally speaking, you could have a male. I've noted that females tend to be a little more fearful and skittish than males do. My GBB spiderling is extremely skittish and always launches herself/himself around the delicup I have her/him in.

My GBB is about 3" and has the adult coloration, a real beauty.
