Whoever said these beauties are "boring" or "plain" or compared them to "pet rocks" never met my new T, "Gracie!" :D

I just brought her home (actually, have not sexed, so a little info on that like do I have to wait for a molt?) yesterday, and put her in a kritter keeper for the night, but I got her a 5.5 gal with locking lid, two hides and a water dish... she's all over the place! Either she loves the new home, and she's exploring, or... she hates it and is trying to escape. :?

This is my first T and I'm fascinated with watching her. Call me a dork, but I think I am in good company here... I saw her sit down in the water dish and - I presume - take a drink. She's on the log, in the resin hide, on the glass, the screen, the substrate. She's MUCH more active than my geckos!

And, FYI: I"M HOOKED!!! I think the next I have my eye on is B. Smithi...

^_^ I think she's just exploring her new home. She'll web up the floor of her new home like a carpet so she can find her way around.

Welcome to the addiction!

My rosea is not a pet rock either. She moves around all the time and seems content(yes, I can tell because I am a tarantula whisperer jk). I enjoy her a lot! Welcome to a long and happy future of T collecting :D

Mine isn't much of a Rock either... though she has Rock moments. She likes to check out her territory. Right now she's just chillin by her little plant pot and napping? who knows... lol But ya very amusing and interesting to watch!

I have 2 LARGE rosies. Both are more like dogs than Ts. They are constantly on the move and digging holes that they stretch out in. Very rarely are they still. I love them.

Are there any plants I should use, or should not use? I was just thinking about taking out one of the hides (whichever one she seems to use less) and put in a plant...

How deep should the coco fiber be? Its about an inch deep but it looks like she could use more. I noticed that Miss Gracie has dug around and messed up her water dish.

The sub is about 6inches in my enclosures. The deeper the better.

I would suggest artificial with a G. rosea. They like it very dry and very few plants can tolerate that (especially ones you would want in with your spider and you will end up with either an unhappy T or an unhappy plant. Also, it sounds like yours might be one of the bulldozer rosies and it will just dig up the plant anyway.

Enjoy your new T.

Like I mentioned she was by her plant POT... I don't have any plants in her enclosure anymore... I used to have cat grass in there but it got too moist and it was a pain in the A$$ to constantly take care of and with all the commotion all the time I didnt want to bug my T.

I have my G Rosea in a 10g tank and all she has in there is a small 4'' flower pot and her water dish on the far side with water and river rocks (inside for deco and cricket saving just in case) Other than that she has her web and her substrate. She's a happy camper in there!
