I've been lurking on here for a while, but now I'm deciding to post since I just got my first T! She's a 4" Aphonopelma chalcodes (Desert blond) and she's currently residing on the wall of her new home.

No pics as of yet, since my room is perpetually dark even with the windows and lights on so the last thing I want to do is flash a light on her. When I feel she's more comfortable, I'll post some pics in the gallery.

Congrats on your new tarantula and welcome to the hobby! I personally think Aphonopelma are good starter T's, and A. chalcodes are gorgeous :) Definitely post some pics!

very good choice in first Ts. Thank god you didn't get a boring Rosie. Aphonopelma's are fun.

I'm kinda of worried though since she's climbing the walls and the top of the cage... I'm hoping it's just because she's still freaked out, and not because of my substrate choice.

Do they normally do that when they first arrive?
