This little guy has been in the pet shop for a few months and I been watching him. I decided to talk the lady down on the price from $28.00 to $20.00 It was the pet shops for buy on tantarulas and they couldn't sell it, so I don't think they will be getting anymore, considering we know the lady.

I decided to name it Achilles (Aphonopelma seemani aka Costa Rican Zebra)

Good looking T. Why do you think that you have rescued it ? It looks quite healthy to me.

I'm surprised it's not in a full threat display and trying to bite you. Mine is a little hellion.

can zebras like this one be handled?

or does it depend on the spider?

My seemanni isn't even remotely aggressive or even particularly defensive, but she is so skittish that I don't attempt handling. They have a kind of scrambling way of walking so they're fun to watch.

Like just about any species, though, I think handling potential depends on the individual tarantula. I had a T. blondi that was very docile, and now I have another of the same species that I don't go within 8 or so inches of. ;)

Beautiful T, NightCrawler27 - good find!

It was sitting in the cage for 2 months, had no hide, til I put one in there, they didn't want it there and they made a remark that they wished something would happen to it, so they could get rid of it. It was the only tarantula they had there and they haven't plan on getting anymore.they bought it from some guy who didnt want it anymore.so they thought they would give it a try and guess to see if them buying T's would be profitable...they told me today they will never get another 1 ..i buy my crickets and rats from her ..as far as threat mode seems to be very freindly ..i havent held her/him yet ..im waiting till it gets use to its new home and settles a bit i have touched it (petted if you will) it dont seem to mind being touched...as for healthy ..its very healthy but it always had about a dozen crickets in there with it no matter what day i went in there and that had to stress it out a bit..so in a way i guess i rescued it from them its alot happier now i think..and thx for all the compliements on my new T...ill post some pics of me holding her/him after it settles a bit

Pretty! I have a female A. seemanni. She has part of the devil in her!

She gave me a threat display a couple days ago  Being new to T's that wasn't something I expected.. She is very fast and skittish.

Be careful holding it. A. seemani is a bit high-strung.

I just love these Ts! The colors are striking and they DO seem to have a really interesting walk.

Good luck with it!
