I don't have much time, my internet hasn't been working well at all lately. Anyone remember my avic avic that had a couple legs missing? Well I was wrong. He wasn't a mature male then. He just molted today and now I know for sure he's a mature male. The spurs are very visible, and sharp looking. He regenerated his missing legs. Their smaller, and lighter in color than his normal legs but their there. I'll put up pictures when I fix my internet connection problems.

In other news I have raised my meal worms into darkling beetles and yesterday fed a beetle to one of my Ts. I'm proud to add variety into their diet. Before they just ate crickets only. If even captive bred beetles are bad for them, warn me!

I really want to see a tarantula regrow some legs. I have always heard of it, but none of my T's ever lost any. Of course I'm not actually hoping they do, I just would like to get a little more familiar with the process and how long it takes to recover.

As for the beetles. There's been some discussion about various beetle species being unhealthy, although I don't know how much credit to give the assertions. That is, just because they can secrete a foul smelling or pain-inducing substance doesn't mean they are not edible. Typically beetles have to mix up their little potions directly before expelling them, and of course things that may irritate eyes or smell bad are not necessarily bad on the digestive system.

However, that all refers to only certain beetles. I've heard it pretty much universally confirmed that adult mealworms are safe for T's to eat. That's one reason they are a good feeder insect.

Good luck with them.

Complete regrowth typically takes two molts. The first molt they grow back slightly smaller. After the 2nd molt you cannot tell the difference. Unfortunately the OP will never see this since it's a MM.

To the one whom sent me an Avicularia avicularia male and a curly hair sling I announce an update!

The curly hair sling recently molted, and the male is fast, and doing well :)
