My first Boa

Got this Red Tail Boa today (gender unknown) at a local reptile shop we found. They had a good deal on some nice yearlings (I think the guy said a few months, not sure on the exact age) so I decided to snatch one up. I've done some reading prior and know these become decently large. Can't wait to build my own vivarium for it.

P.S. Disregard that heat rock you see in the first pic. That was given to me for some dumb reason. I know not to use those.

Nice! what size cage do you have him in? i'd get one...but dont wanna house an 8 foot snake.

A rather small one right now (20 gallons I believe). That's gonna change within the next few months when I get him into a bigger one. Then next summer I'm gonna build my own using tips from others who build.

cool! a 20 should be plenty for a year or a bit less. Try repticzone.com though i doubt you'll get a response for tank building withouta rude response.

congrats on teh feeding. I love my boa (currently about 34-35"). Mine is a pastel so its less grey main color and more of a light tan with dark brown saddles. I honestly think regular Boa's (and their morphs) are the prettiest of all snakes, idk why, they just really are stunning to me.
