For the housing I alternate a large egg carton with the purple apple cartons(or whatever they are called).

IMO it is better to stack the egg crates vertically rather than lying down, so all the poo falls to the ground and doesnt just build up where they are hiding. also a dark colored opaque bin/container will help them feel more at home in the dark unless they are kept in a closet or something where it is dark most of the time.
these are just my opinions and have worked well for me.

i use nothing but the purple apple dividers ( i get them free from work). My dubias have been going strong for more than a year

Good idea on stacking the crates.

The container is in the closet. The flash really lit the place up.

The white container is a remote temperature sensor that came with the base that I put on my wall. That way I can see how the temperature is in there without having to do anything other than look at my wall.

There must be a lot in there because the next day I checked and all the popcorn and the handful of dog food I put in there was completely gone. I had the container open to feed them and kidnap one for my GBB so most of them went into hiding until I dropped some food in. Then there is always a few that rush out to eat.

And a nice big PM sent on the trade/sale.
