They are all super cute! Love the first picture, but I'm partial to bigger dogs. Thanks for sharing!

Not trying to hijack your thread, but are you absolutely SURE that Abby is part Greyhound and Sam is a Kelpie x Border Collie? I'm just not seeing those breeds there at all. Both look like two breeds that were developed, at least in large part, in Kentucky and are common there as hunting dogs, the Mountain Cur and Mountain Feist. I can see the Chow in Rajah; he looks in fact just like a Chow x Golden I knew years ago that belonged to some students of mine, except that dog had ears more like a Golden. Other than that, they could have been twins. They are all nice-looking dogs, though, and it's good that they have a great home.

not totally sure on Abby. Salem is border/kelpie, i know her parents and where she came from. they are VERY common here as cattle dogs.

Great pics! I had my doubts on Salem with the first photo, but she's filled out and it looks plausible now that she's older--she has a skinny kelpie look, and border collies can be awfully petite. Rajah is a gorgeous dog; I love the faces on chow mixes. My old chow mix turned 10 this year, if it weren't for a little gray around her muzzle and paws you'd never suspect it. They have eternal puppy face. Abby is also a beaut but you're right, she could be a mix of all of the above. I know a lot of shelters and rescues call brindle dogs greyhounds to avoid the stigma of the pit.
In any case they are all lucky to have found their way to you! They look very happy and healthy.

aw thanks!
Their stories....

Salem is still young, she just now hit 8 months old and I see her filling out. I recently went to a stock yard, and they had kelpies working cattle. Some of them were petite as are some border collies ive known. But most of them, while not very tall, where stocky.
Salem came from a litter that was on its way to the pound because the owner fell ill and had to rehome all his breeding stock and puppies. Sadly it was a very large operation. He sold these dogs as cattle workers and agility dogs and had nearly 100 dogs. He is popular in my area as a cattle dog trainer and breeder, and I feel its a damn shame because of the number of dogs he had and the fact that they were locked in the barn until time to work. Salem's dad is a 45lb rough coated black and white border collie, and her mother is a petite 25lb black kelpie.
Having said that, Salem has one HELL of a working drive! These dogs were not pets, not bred as pets... but Salem has made an exceptional pet! I have to keep her engaged and she is very active, but she is smart as a tack and listens great. Ive been blessed with 4 great dogs, but she keeps surprising me time and time again.

Rajah came from a shelter and was labeled aggressive. I had to pull strings in order to get him and avoid euthanasia. He was just 5 months old at the time and he would do things like snap at you if you sat next to him. If you bumped him he would growl at you, etc. We worked on this, and he couldnt be a sweeter dog now! To his family that is. He is totally half chow, half retriever. Sometimes he has a chow temperament, being reserved, and a ferocious protector. And then he is a silly golden ret. bringing you a ball, jumping up, being excitable and playing pranks.
When I take him to the vet he will bite, he has to be muzzled, unless I give him a ball. He refuses to drop the ball to snap at anyone, lol. Rajah is very smart and human like. He is spoiled, and demands it. He is the king here.

Abby was left in a pen and abandoned. Her owners moved out and left her to starve. She was found at 7 months old and so emaciated that you could see her skull bones. Her eyes were sunk in, it was terrible. Abby has an odd temperament. She is friendly yet timid. No one can lay a hand on her but the people she is around everyday, but she is curious of others... she just doesnt want them to talk to her or touch her. She is very sensitive and if I am upset over any little thing she senses it and hides from me all day... I do not know what happened to this girl, but I think mostly it is total lack of socialization plus her sensitive, reserved natural personality. Just because of how she acts does not mean she has ever been abused, but who knows.

Gypsy was my grandmother's dog. Sadly she didnt know better and bought her from a petstore. Being half jack russell she has loads of energy. Granny was hoping for a lap dog. She got fibromyalgia (spelling?) and decided it would be best to rehome the hyper yorkie/jack russell mix. I fell in love with her and added her to my pack.

So here we are, a strong pack of 4 that are amazingly spoiled yet still obedient. They are such a blessing to me
