My Dermistids

Well i got these guys a while ago but sadly i did not get any beetles so the colony grew very slow.[as the larvae had to go through the whole life cycle]But now i have two beetles and four other larvae left one of which is huger then the others[ill most likely get a beetle in about three to four weeks or so ]I just feed them catfood but i resently read online that they need meat to reproduce so im going to give them some meat so they reproduce.Ill be sure to keep you all updated on my dermistids.BTW if any of you were wondering they are larder beetles and are quite active.

Im interested.. I had a colony I used to clean skulls for hunters and such. Then one cold winter night, someone unplugged my colonies heat source and they all died.... sigh. I never got going with them again because they stunk.. well, what they ate stunk anyway.
I would save scraps of meat when trimming fat and such and freeze it. When I didnt have skulls for them to eat I would throw in the scraps. I also gave them the dead roaches from my colonies, they LOVE them! :}

WOOT im glad to finally say i know my beetles have laid eggs there are very tiny worms[larvae] in the substrate which i need to put in more substrate.
