got my first T, a 1.75" Chaco golden knee a couple of weeks ago. Taken about 4 crickets so far and doing well, but hasn't been too active overall.

I have a half log made of cork bark in the enclosure and tonight it has been digging around in the corner of the enclosure and webbing up the front of the log. It is totally enclosed now, packing the dirt it digs up at the opening and webbing it all in place. I was playing games on the computer and I had to stop just to watch all the activity.

I'm a newb but this is so fascinating to watch. Could a molt be coming up soon or is it just rearranging its pad? haha

Some of mine will seal themselves in a hide when getting ready to molt. If it quits acepting food there is a pretty good chance it is.

it is possible for a molt..look for darkening of the abdomen and watch for very lethargic (lazy) behavior.

I say it is just decorating too. My P. murinus has been at this all day today. He has made a web tunnel door under the cork bark leading to his burrow he dug out. This morning i caught him flipped over on his back just so he could web the top of the bark. And eating fine too, just dropped him a cricket not more than 10 minutes ago.

I really didn't think it was either but just seemed wierd to be isolating itself like that.

it is in a KK, not the smallest one but next to the smallest, it might be 1/2 gallon or so, roughly the size of a "box" of icecream. filled almost halfway with peat moss, corkbork in the shape of a half log up against the side and for water dish I used the container that is a 1 serving size of crystal light pushed into the moss to ground level with a rock sticking out of it.

Originally I puchased about a 3 gallon KK and figured that was probably too much for it right now and got the smaller 1. Besides, now I have to find something to put in the 3 gallon right? haha.

Sounds like you have a good set up there.
You will have to get something for the other kk at the reptile show huh? You know, I am really looking forward to that :}

Yeah I really am too, I was going to get a couple more Ts online but I'm waiting for the show. Botar is going to have a table there and I'm probably going to bring home 3-4 Ts. I decided to wait for the show rather than ship them.

I've found that increased appetite and water-intake is followed by activity and earth-moving, which is followed by webbing and then fasting, which is followed by molting, and then subdued inactivity.

Well, I"m relieved-NOW I know that I'm not the only one who has T's which possess a certain artistic flair! Two of mine, one of my B. albopilosums and my E. campestratus, are natural-born scupltors, utilizing substrate and silk to create masterpieces of environmental art. Sadly, I've never been able to catch either of them in the act, so they must indulge their creativity in the very early hours of morning.

The PZB is especially artistic, with a sense of humor. Right before school re-started, my brother, a bona fide computer geek, came over for a visit to see my new computer, and snagged a big fat cricket near where he'd parked. I decided to give it to the PZB, who'd undergone a recent moult and had only just resumed feeding. When I opened her enclosure, I discovered that she'd created these upright, almost-rectangular "slabs" of dirt and webbing, arranged in a semi-circle, and was sprawled smuggly within the curve. My brother and I took one look at this creation, and burst out laughing at how much it looked like that tiny little model of Stonehenge in the "Spinal Tap" video, made all the more "Heavy Metal" by this huge, hairy spider sitting in front of it!
