Awesome pics!

I've been kicking around the idea of a carpet python for a while, but I've heard mixed reviews on their temperament. I've heard some people say theirs are very even-tempered and others say theirs are very aggressive. What has your experience been with yours?

personally i love carpets... i highly recommend em, but not as a beginner
as far as temper goes, if u get em young, and feed em pre killed they should tame pretty easily. my jungles and coastals tend to be a little feisty at times,
but ive never had a problem with an iran jaya.....
if i were u id look into obtaining an iran jaya theyre small, docile and beautiful.
heres a pic of 1 of mine from last year

IJ? Docile? I musta gotten stiffed with my pair, the female's as bloodthirsty as they come..well until you get her out of the cage :D needs more handling i guess, but it's awful hard trying to tame down a snake long enough to get your face from arm's length.

To be fair, the male is perfectly tame, just a hair flighty.

im sorry to hear that...every ij ive ever dealt with has been a pleasure to work with, unless they were fed live food(in which case any snake can become agressive)
at least the males ok {D

I've handled Carpets of all ages......from a nice old old female Jungle, down to babies less than a year old, and I've never found a bitey one yet. I don't handle my Carpets nearly at all, and I've only had one strike at me, an 03 female Jungle that was in shed. Other than that, no striking, no hissing......no nothing. They're not a lazy snake though, when you have them out they're constantly on the go. Don't expect to take them out and have them "chill" with you.

I wish I could say the same for my 04 Hogg Isle......she's EVIL!

For a good site with Carpet info, check out Moreliapythons.com . They have a forum with extremely knowledgeable people, as well as care sheets.
