Thanks! I love chameleons! Have always wanted one but waited a long time till I was sure I could care for them correctly. I don't have a name for the Panther yet. His dad is called "Old Blue Eyes" so I may name him Franky but I want to see what his colors will turn out to be. I really like the name "Candyman" :D
Hope your female has many little ones! They are so super adorable as babies. I really don't find reptiles all that attractive but chameleons have always caught my eye. :p

WOW they are GORGEOUS! I've gotta make sure my son DOES NOT EVER see these pics because he's on a chameleon trip as of lately :) ....and I was threatened with "eviction" by hubby if I as much as add only 1 more critter to the household :D

Are Chameleons hard to keep? (Oh boy, here I go inquiring ALREADY!)

I'd let him get one! :D
The only thing is, chameleons are not too easy to keep. They need 2 kinds of lights, dusted crickets, plants in the cage, and they need to be misted with a water bottle or an automatic mister several times a day. At least 2 times a day minimum. They are quiet, basically clean(my veiled has a designated "toilet" area) and they don't try to escape. Plus they are so cool to watch!
If you're gonna get a chameleon, I'd suggest a veiled or a jacksons since they are the hardiest and most forgiving of mistakes. They are faily tame, meaning they don't bite, but they generally don't like to be handled.
You can find all you need to know at these websites,
Chameleon Corral
This is where I bought my Nosy be Panther. She is VERY nice and helpful.

Beautiful chameleons! I know I have several dozen favorite herps, but panthers are right at the top of the list.

More pics of the panther. He shed a few days ago. Not sure if I see any difference in color just yet.

It's hard trying to get a good pic of this guys hunting skill. His tongue is faster than my camera can shoot! {D

Awesome pictures! I had a veiled female that I got from a reptile rescue. Spent a fortune on getting her setup, but she was worth it. She was one nasty bugger, I never could hold her. She was full size gravid female when I got her and died last year. Wow, seeing yours, I might pick up another baby at the reptile show next month.

More Photos of the Panther

I've decided to name him Hector instead of Franky, it sounds better when I say "Hector the Hotty" :D He is a handsome devil :p

Do you have any problems keeping the humidity high enough for them?

Hey Diane,

How are the chameleons doing these days?

I recently acquired a Veiled-I have him set up in the open-no cage. I hung three pothos plants-big ones-in front of my window, placed a large Ficus tree below them, set a UVB light off of one side, and a UVA heat lamp above one of the plants. I also rigged up a drip system to drip into one of the plants.
The vines hang down to the window screen where there is about five hours of sun shining in daily, and I mist two-three times a day.
The biggest pain has been feeding the little guy-I have cricket containers tied to a couple vines, and any escapees usually end up in the window track where they become lunch..but some still manage to set themselves free-I think my cats have been keeping them in check, though.
I just adore the little critter though.

No problems. they both have HabbaMisters set to spray once an hour during the day.

rapunzel, that is a cutie! You'll love him, the veileds are so cute and non aggressive unlike the Panthers which will hiss and bite at you. :D
The only problem I have with mine is they get bored with the limited supply of insects so I have to get creative. I get crickets, mealworms, wax worms, superworms from the pet store and I try to get flies, grasshoppers, moths, outside. I also try to order some horn worms or silk worms occasionally just for variety. If you can hold really still while holding a cricket or mealworm your veiled might even eat right from your fingers. Mine does it all the time. He got used to me hand feeding him while his eye infection blinded him for a short time. Now he has practically no fear of me and even crawls out during routine cleanings. :p
Be sure to post more pics as your's grows, we can compare colors. :D

Very cool creatures. I always drool at the vieleds at the local petstore. And for some reason I always laugh hysterically at thier eye movements. I never seem to get my fill of seing them do that. I also love watchint them feed, but have only witnessed it first hand once in my life. I cant believe how long thier tounges are! Anyway, fascinating reptiles! Thanks for sharing!

I'd like to say Squishy was a handsome devil too, but he is a she so I'll have to say dazzling beauty.

Um, Squishy is a male. His vet verified it the day I got him and he has little spurs on the back of his feet. The photos don't show it very well but they are there. He is rather small for a veiled but the vet said the infection has stunted his growth so I have a dwarf veiled chameleon. :D My panther chameleon is half his age but twice as big~ weird. :?

Okay then, Just looks like a female because of the unpronounced crest on his head. Most males have the larger more upright crests, females have something that is more pulled back, resembling Squishy's. My mistake!

That's ok, i think the infection really did a number on his growth process. :( The vet said he may never reach his full size but his colors should come in. Most of those photos of him were while he was still pretty sick so the colors he is displaying are not the best. He probly won't be any good for breeding being so small. The girls would beat him up. {D
