This picture was taken in February of 2005 in Costa Rica:

Now go to this guy's website: http://www.uga.edu/srelherp/jd/jdweb/Herps/trips/CR05/cr05.htm and check out this picture. His trip was a month later. I haven't been able to contact him (his email is full, but it looks like he is still at the same place so I will try again in a little bit) but it would be interesting to learn the exact dates and details.

Cheers,
Dave

coincidence?

That would have to be some major coincidence. That picture is like exactly the same. That's insane.

Wow, thats amazing Dave. After studying the spots on the tree, it sure looks like the same thing. Did you find that snake on your own, or was that a snake a tour guide spotted out ? Prehaps a tour giude shows it to several hundred people, as it hung out there.:?

Later, Tom

It is definitely the same snake in the same tree. It is located near to the station manager's house at the COTERC research station. I think that for our group it was an original discovery, but I am sure it was pointed out to every group to pass through after that (each of whom probably thinks their group discovered it ... when of course it was ours. :D )

Makes me think that maybe I can re-find this one:

which I found only because I was standing by the last trail marker as another guy sloshed around trying to find the next one (that way, we wouldn't lose the trail back). I was just examining everything on one tree to see what was a snake when all of a sudden one of the things wasn't a vine. People who have been in these environments will know what I mean.

Cheers,
Dave

A bit off topic but, any idea what kind of scorpion was found by the other group?

Centruroides limbatus. All over the place in that area. The only other scorpion I found in that area was Tityus ocelote.

Dave

That's crazy! Litterally the same spot, must be good food supply...lol. You can see where the noduels of ne branches are on the green plant, they are in fact the same, smae for the head scaling and posture of the snake. Amazing, hope that not too many people find him, looks like hes got a good routine going.
