Hi, along with my Ts, i keep two pet mice. (picture show on my picture thread)
Well my little Chubby Nubby (the light one, called nubby because he has half a tail in a cute way ) has an itch. Yesterday i was observaving him being washed by her sister, not moving a muscle. Then she took over, she was digging in her ear for gold or something. She was going at it like a madwomen taking breaks to lick her fingers.
There are no bugs or mites in the shavings that i can see. He actually drew blood. Is there soemthing i can do to stop the itch ? like a cream or something. ? She keeps on going back to scratch some more.

Mites

It sounds like mites. They will scratch themselves bloody. You'll need antibiotics to prevent infection, and also another shot to control the mites. See a vet. And keep the cage scrupulously clean.

I actually had a hamster that would do the same thing ( this was when i was like 8) and my dad bought it some anti-itch cream from the drug store and it worked...idunno you should get info from sum1 else to see it thats safe. But remember it was most likely tested on animal anyways
