Moulting question

Hi I couldn’t get a photo, as it would mean disturbing the sling a second time.

my desert blonde looked like it was about to moult and disappeared into a hide on Saturday… it now looks a little darker but I can’t tell if it is bigger. Is there a chance it did moult and did something with the shed as I can’t see one anywhere. It seems healthy so I’m not too worried.

It's possible, sometimes tarantulas leave the moults in their hides; it may bring it out later or leave it in there forever.

Looking at those photos the legs do look like they have more of a shine in them which can indicate that it's freshly moulted, although it could just be the flash or something on you're camera as the abdomen doesn't seem to be any smaller, when they moult the abdomen will drop in size a good bit.

That's one plump T. If it has molted, I would have expected a far skinnier abdomen. Perhaps slings remain more plump since they're still tiny ?

Don't worry you're here, this is the best place on the planet for help with you're T. Looks more like premoult to me, and it's definitely fat enough to see it through so I wouldn't worry at all, there a pretty hardy species too.

Sometimes they T will eat the moult to regain some of the lost moisture it has lost in the process! I have one that did it almost every time. But had another that never touched to moult. It’s ok either way. Not harmful either way!

Looks like a moult to me. Looks a little bit more shiny and the abdomen looks a bit smaller. Not by much but a bit

Abdomen also looks darker though which signals premoult, meaning it's due to moult not already moulted.

lol I’m glad my 2 slings are slow growers.. it gives me more time to learn about things

Its hard to say but i think its getting ready to molt.

dont feed it anymore its too fat anyways. Give it a break.

its getting there. It needs to be dark and purplish grey before a molt. The entire abdomen, a perfect little grape.

i really have a feeling molt hasnt happened yet.

Slow growing species can have quick sling periods. My 3 g pulchripes molted 3 times in around three months. They were slings. They dont usualy stay beige and small that long. Its the 1-2 inch phase that can be long.

right now, you need to let it be and avoid interference. Thank you for the photos it helps.

This sling is almost 2 inches. Too fat. Thats one of my g pulchripes.
