I know that superworms/morio worms are a pretty popular food choice for larger scorpions, particularly the Pandinus and Heterometrus so I wanted to throw together a guide on how to culture them yourself and save yourself a tonne of money!

I find guides on how to do this properly on the internet are a little sparse, so I'm hoping my experience on the topic might come in useful to people.

So yes, heres how I breed superworms :)

Maybe it'll be of use to folk, maybe not, who knows :p

I do not use these as feeders for my scorpions, but I enjoyed reading the very informative and elaborate guide anyhow :)

i ddi get them to breed, however, a month ago i found i had parasitic mites. dont know if any of the superworms had them, but they were coated and threw them out

however, i did have a couple hundred babies :( takes a couple months but they do work pretty well. i was going to use them as fishing bait and to sell, but alas.

Sadly they arent great as feeders, as most inverts, IME, are afraid of the way they move. Plus, they're pretty fatty. :p

Supposedly mealworms help to increase the lifespan of leopard geckos. If it's true, do you think it would work for scorpions as well? I think I read that somewhere in the Leopard Gecko book by Advanced Vivarium Systems.

Supposedly yes....I don't think the life span will increase because of these meal worms, I think the life span increases because of varied diet (including meal worms). I never fed a mealworm to my animals in 18 years of T and scorpkeeping. They are nice for fishing!
