I was smitten at expo and took 2 home with me In the display tub. I did pause to do a few minutes of research to ensure care was plausible for me first lol. I added more substrate to their temporary bin and have water bowls in there and they are eating.... they are so great to watch while eating! Lol. Anyhow I adore them and I want to get their set up right and set up soon. I want to see set up pics and resource links please :). Thanks.

While I no longer keep them, I can speak of my experience in the past with these colorful crustaceans. Hopefully you have enough space to house both of them, as within the confines of a smaller terrarium, Geocarcinus can be quite aggressive with one another, which in the worst of circumstances can lead to lost limbs or even lives should one attempt a molt too closely to the other. From what I can tell from the image, your substrate appears to be purely cocoa-coir, though I would add sand, and if possible, small pebbles or pieces of shells to allow for better tunneling. One more thing is while they aren’t the most active during the daylight hours, they’re very active at night, and you’ll soon come to know by the incessant tapping of claws and legs on the sides of their glass confines, so I’d recommend keeping them away from where you sleep .

P.S. That Hikari Crab Cuisine (I think) you’ve got in the picture is a favorite of theirs, though it softens and molds rapidly if left on the substrate. I’d recommend leaving it on a small dish or tray for them. Also, try feeding them live crickets whenyiu Get a chance, their feeding response is pretty good if they’re acclimated enough.

Very neat! Yeah my death feigning beetles love crab cuisine and I have a cricket colony. I got sand to mix in and some salt for their salt water dish. I think I'm going to separate a large aquarium with an acrylic panel so it's one house with 2 separate rooms. I love their clicking and clacking... but yes, in the living room...

Just wanted to say these are really cool and I wish you the best of luck with them! Keep us updated on how they do. I have been interested in getting some of these or patriot crabs.
