Sound decent to me.

Edit - I was off on conversion rate; that's actually a pretty killer deal. Jump on it.

That'd be a steal of a price in the US. I'm not sure what the market is like for them in the UK. At that size I wouldn't be surprised if it was a male, but it's still a great price.

I dont know what sex they are. My local pet store has 3 of them. I dont think theres much colour differance if any at all, so will be a lucky shot to get a female!

Very smart... I didn't think of this.

So keeping Stonerain's justifiable caution in mind, if you can buy the tarantulas at a brick and mortar, or a reliable online dealer, I think that price is a great deal regardless of gender.

Your local pet store has them? Where did they come from? It's possible that some ex-hobbyist just got tired of keeping his T's and pretty much gave them to a pet store, but that's just about the only scenario I can come up with explaining why a pet store would have them (unless it's a tarantula/herp specific store, but even then...M. balfouri are too expensive to be in the typical hobbyist's price range). I'd try and get more information, maybe even post some pictures of them. I think there's a possibility of mis-identification going on here. They could also be M. lambertoni imports. I've seen those coming in to the US hobby in the past, and they don't command the same price as their blue relatives.

I would say that these are deffinatly Monocentropus balfouri. I have wanted one for a while, and was hoping to get a sling. The shop does have around 20 diffrent types of tarantulas. Ranging from sling to adults and around 10 of each species. I will e-mail the store and get some more details.

Well, if they are M. balfouri, you're not going to find any at a cheaper price.

You guys from the UK could always check the german T market. There are a lot of breeders who DO ship internationally. And since it's EU, no biggie anyways. Also, M. balfouri isn't that rare over here either. Price range is about 20-50 EUR I think. That's for the size mentioned by the OP.
