G'day guys, how's it going?

I'll be buying a pair of ridge tailed monitors (Varanus acanthurus) soon. I'm so excited - I work with these guys at work and they're just wicked.

Thought I'd start a thread asking to see photos of your ridge tailed monitors and their set ups.

Feel free to post any photos of other monitors and their set ups.

Good choice on the ridge tails. Are they the yellows or reds? I have five of the reds and they've been pumping eggs out like crazy. My ackies are in troughs. I have 1.1 and 1.2 in two separate set ups. I keep tristis too and they are in a trough and in a custom 4x2x6 ft cage with a fake rock wall. The first pic is of the tristis set up. This would work great for ackies too. I don't have any pics of my trough uploaded on photobucket. But they are simple. Trough, plexi lid, a light or 2, 14-18 inches of dirt, some stacks of wood. Throw in a bunch of crickets, quail, and mice and they'll throw out eggs. Good luck.

thats a realy nice looking set up. verry impressive. i would realy like to keep tree monitors in the future and that set up would be perfect.. right now i have a nile. she is two years old. ive raised her from a hatchling. she is actually fairly tame and tollerates a small amount of gentle handling. but if you push it with her she'll go in for a bite withought a whole lot of hessitation.
shes rad though.. i could never give her up.

OOOOOOOOOHHH, that's sweet!!! I have always wanted one of the larger monitor species. Meaningless, have you been to that rep shop in Garden Grove? I can't remember the name of it. This place is better than the zoo. They have their setups built into the walls. They have some VERY impressive snakes and lizards. I moved from Lake Forest to my present location and I miss that place a lot. Post some more pics!!!!

Actually, now that I think of it, the shop was on Beach Blvd. in Huntington Beach. Phil, it's to bad you could not see this place. Have fun with your V. acanthurus. Make sure and post pics when you get them!!!!

That's the one. Never did meet the owner. I guess that's a good thing. The place looked well taken care of when I visited. I guess that's why you have employees. I even applied for a job there but they said there were no openings.
