Hi all, I just got my Amblypygi a couple days ago and little mold dots have appeared on his corkbark. I suspect that the reason for this is that his terrarium is too warm/moist. I don't know if mold is hazardous to Tailless Whips or not, and I'm not sure how to get the mold off (if I even have to). Can someone give their opinion? Thanks.

heres an interesting article thats kinda related.

They don't really care about mold for the most part, but it can be unsightly. If it bothers you just do some spot removal.

As your enclosure's microfauna become more diverse with time; mold becomes less of an issue.

Springtails will definitely help. I've seen mine climb the corkbark to get at mold growing.

It’s probably fine but if it spreads a lot I’d swap the piece out or scrape the mold off. Depending on the moisture requirements you might be able to throw some springtails in there

Mold won't appear unless the moisture gets stagnant. If you want to get rid of it, I'd increase the ventilation

Thank you very much. I've always been interested in springtails. I'll definitely look into this.

good to know, thank you for the input.

Not a problem for amblypygi. Ignore or do spot-removal if it bothers you.

Amblypygi need moist environments and don't care about mould. Just leave it alone.

Increase ventilation, add springtails or don't make it as moist specifically on the bark itself.

Mold isn't an issue but is unsightly. Spot cleaning and springtails.
