Nothing im aware of in a carpet pythons anathomy that differs from other boids.LPacker79 said:Yup, no problems. The great thing about Carpets is that they're able to eat something that would be too big for some other snakes their size. I was giving her fuzzy rats, but all the breeders were telling me fuzzies were too small for her. They feed fuzzy rats to their hatchlings.
Yes Lelle, I'm going by what I've been told by a multitude of carpet keepers. Not sure where the info first originated, but it's pretty commonly passed around. The pictures make the size difference seem bigger than it is, the snake does not have that big of a lump.Crotalus said:Nothing im aware of in a carpet pythons anathomy that differs from other boids.
All snakes that have mammals as primarely food source can swallow larger prey then one might think, but its not really advisable to feed them larger prey then they are thick (body). If I have to choose from giving smaller prey (and a number of them) or a larger prey that are too large really - I choose the smaller prey items. Not saying that rat is too large for your snake, but its a borderline in my opinion.

Well, in that case it gotta be true.. I just wonder what other snakes in the same size cant eat what a carpet eat.LPacker79 said:Yes Lelle, I'm going by what I've been told by a multitude of carpet keepers. Not sure where the info first originated, but it's pretty commonly passed around.
