So I noticed something that might possibly be mites in my isopods enclosure? I have springtails in my enclosure so at first I thought maybe it was just baby springtails but I think they're too round and not the right color.

I'm not sure what I should do because my isopods have babies and I'm don't really wanna ruin the isopods and springtails set up they have in there. But if I need to ill figure something out.

The best you can hope for is they aren't mites. Failing that, that they don't pose a hazard to your preferred animals. Not all mites are predators. Failing that, you're out of luck. Mites are hardier, more adaptable and breed faster. The only fully effective mite killer is permethrin or worse which is lethal to nearly all insects.

Well my isopods seem to be doing okay overall. I've seen them out and stuff when I lift up their lid to check on them (I keep them in a dark, non-see through container).

Chances are good that they’re grain mites, in which case it shouldn’t be a huge problem because they have plenty of competition and likely won’t get their population high enough to cause problems. Grain mites will always crop up in enclosures moist enough to support them, and rarely cause any major issues for the animals in the enclosure. They’re there to eat detritus, same as everybody else.

Now of course if you have wild caught critters in there, there’s a chance you have other types of mites that can be an issue, but if your pods seem healthy and are reproducing well it’s likely not something to worry too much about.

I don't think they're wild caught. I bought them online. I never noticed mites before till after I put my springtails in it, but my other enclosures I put them in do not appear to have any mites.
