Just got my first centipede yesterday, roughly just over an inch, a juvenile Indian Black, Ethmostigmus rubripes spinosus. Just properly housed it today, i put in some fresh coco fibre along with a scraping of what it was packaged with, quite chuffed i just housed my first centipede no problem when i notice a single very small mite on the substrate >_<
I know they are a problem to their respiratory system but is that only when there are larger than normal quantities?
Will the centipede cope if i try to let the enclosure get dryer or should i just replace everything in the enclosure?

i keep my scolopendra subspinipes, scolopendra deehanni, and scolopendra polymorpha all on bone dry substrate, with large water bowls....i know the subspinipes, and deehanni are rainforst pedes, but ive had too many grain mite problems, so i just keep lots of water for them....if i were you i would use a fan and every day stir the dirt....try to get it dried out and all the mites will dissapear...might wanna check all your critters too..

just realized some of my trap door spiders got mites in them....now to rehouse them...they are gonna be soooo:evil:.....i hate those mites more than you can imagine....first was in with one of my centipedes, then emporers, then other pedes, then tailess whips, then roaches, now trapdoors....impossible to actually get rid of them for good.....
