Are these millipede eggs? I found them right next to the millipede curled around them in the picture. If so, are they fertile? They're completely clear amber! Is that normal? Sorry, I sound like a worried parent, but I'm really excited to hatch some baby 'pedes if that's the case. Do you have any advice for how I could best keep them? Thank you so much! :)

LOL I can see why you would think that. But when I was younger I had both snails and slugs as pets so I saw both snail and slug eggs. Everything I saw then was perfectly sphere-shaped. So... if they aren't snail/slug eggs, what are they? I could be wrong about what they are though. You learn something new every day. :p

Millipedes usually (but not always) make egg capsules out of dirt/poop, and those seem too big to be millipede eggs. It's curious that the millipede is wrapped around them! What species is that? A Florida ivory?

(Also that's just a temporary enclosure, right?)

It's actually a Tylobolus species I think. And yes, that was a temporary enclosure. :p It was what I had with me to catch anything "good" I found. I guess they must not be millipede eggs... if I can keep them alive I'll let ya know how it turns out. I've now moved the 2-inch millipede in the picture into a small plastic tote box filled with about 5 inches of moist peat moss, maple leaves and oak leaves, a little moss, a bark hide and a few mushrooms. :)

You'll have to keep us updated if the eggs develop!

Does your pede freaking love the mushrooms? I think all of my pedes have hunted the mushrooms in their tanks to extinction because they kept eating them before they could fruit.

It hasn't touched them yet. But since I just put them in there yesterday I think there's still time for that to change. :)

And yes, I will have to keep you updated since it's such a mystery.
