Why is it that everytime I touch my milksnake he gows crazy? Like a VERY nervous centipede. Actually worst then my 2 centipedes and that's bad. Makes it very difficult to handle. When/If I handle him he is always trying to escape. Not like my corn which is very clam and gentil when handling and just gows where I go. What's wrong with my Milksnake? Are all milksnakes like this or just mine?

Cheers,

There's nothing "wrong" with him. He may just not like being handled, not all snakes are predisposed to allowing something that never happens in the wild (unless you count being picked up and then eaten). :)

You can habituate it to handling. Handiling it daily for 5 - 10 minutes. eventually it will calm down, maybe not as much as your corn. Though in my experience milk snakes are on on the skittish side.

which type of Milksnake do you have? is it a hatchling or juv? many milksnakes are very jittery/jumpy as juvs and hatchlings and do not like to be handled. I use a hook when I have to move my milksnakes, seems to stress them less. I don't handle any of them at all except with a hook to move them.

I have a Mexican Milksnake. He isn't a hatchling or a juv, he's an adult.

I own 2 milk snakes (a juv. female nelson's albion and an adult male sinalone) and both are tamer than all 3 of my friends corn snakes. I agree with Thoth on handleing them for 5 to 10 mins a day. Do you feed him inside his cage or in a feeding box? I have heard that snakes fed outside there cage in a feeding box tend go a tolorance for being handled. I belive this is due to the fact they learn that when they get picked up there is a posiblity of being fed. Genarly, collubrids snakes are kind of flighty when you 1st pick them up out of there terrium it just takes time to ajust. How long have you owned him?

But then again all animals haver there indavidual personalities and he may just not enjoy being handled all that much. I have a Brazilan rainbow boa who is a real sweet heart. I have heard horror storys that some people have babies that are meaner than a wet hen. If it were my snake I would try to tame him slowly and feed him in a feeding box.

Hope that helps alittle,
