have a colony of B. lateralis that I purchased three weeks ago and put in a new container when I got them. Feeding them dry cat food and throwing in fruits and veggies a couple times a week and using wat
There were a couple of beetles in the colony when I recieved them and now today I looked and there are hundreds of what I believe to be tiny milipedes crawling around on the bottom of the plastic tub I have the colony in.

Question is: What are they and where did they come from and could I feed the little pedes to my tarantula slings? Could they harm the roach colony?

Thanks!

Most likely: What you are seeing are the beetle larvae of the beetles you first saw, not some kind of millipede. Post a pic if you can, it would help tremendously.

Most likely beetle larvae, but you never know, I have 1cm long millipedes living in my Dubia colony. They do quite well and reproduce on the humid/cool side.

If they are millipedes don't feed them to your other animals. Problem with millipedes is that many have developed some kind of defense making them either toxic or just taste horrible.

They are beetle larvae

The little buggers are beetle larvae! I put one under a steromicroscope and sure enough, only 6 legs. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be! I'm going to try to feed them to the L. parahybana slings I've got.

They should eat them shouldn't they?

Thanks!!
