Goodday, I went to Micheals Craft store today and purchased a large number and many sizes of the plastic square cubes,I am in T heaven now ,I went and purchased a Souter kit and I am making many enclosures for my slings and juvenile slings to go in, I have already completed a cube for my P Metallica sling who is happily in its new home already. The Souter kit is great for making pin size holes in the containers, I will be purchasing a Digital Camera next week to post new pictures.:worship: :worship: :worship:

Same here man - I'd love to figure out what these even are, I've heard a lot about them on the forum recently, but couldn't see any sign of them at Michaels. :?

Look around the areas with the rubber stamps, beads, jewelery making, etc. They're multi-purpose containers and used for storing hobby supplies.
But thats if they carry them at all, so better call first.

here is the SKU# from small to large
251-920
251-923
251-931
251-927
251-925
251-929
251-933
251-935

good luck!

I'm glad you're so enthusiastic about T-keeping(and smilies;)).

I'm going to try Michaels again, just in case I looked right over those containers. Do post pics if you can! I'd love to see how these enclosures look.

... Souter kit?

Hatter- I've lived all over the US, and every Micheals I've even been to has not only had them, but always in the same place. Hang a right when you walk in and look along the wall behind the craft isles. You should be able to score some...

Dougle- I'm guessing you meant solder kit. Before you go crazy, remember that a soldering iron is going to make holes that are great for larger size slings in the larger containers. However, the tiniest of slings require smaller holes of about 1/16" diameter. I like doing those cubes with a drill/dremel with 1/16" and 3/16" bits. It's just as easy as burning them and you don't get a faceful for those fumes. You just need to not press too hard...

I nail a piece of 2x4 down to something, slip the container over the end, and drill appropriate sized holes. The 2x4 helps keep the container from cracking like it can easily do if you're just holding it. It keeps it from moving as well. Only problem is the mess so just make sure you do it outside. I know that won't work for sling sized enclosures but it does for the bigger ones. Hope that helps.

I've checked 2 stores in my local vicinity (roughly 30 miles outward) and none have had them.

After the 2nd trip failed I called another one a bit farther away and they had none as well.

Each I called back to confirm the SKU numbers listed here and throughout these threads and they told my they were clearance items like 4 years ago

I've been checking tutorials on acrylic and how to properly use it/weld it so I might have to delve into the DIY niche which would be cool to learn a new task with all my tools I don't get to use much since wife and kids came :)

Same trouble here. I re-checked Michaels after my earlier post. Maybe they used to have them but at the moment, most of the shelves in the store here are downright empty or filled to the brim with cheap Halloween decor.

Ugghh...

I haven't been on a cube run in a while, and really hope that they're not being discontinued. I better go empty out the two in my area ASAP....

Don't waste your money!!!

Make THESE sling enclosures instead.

I just got some of these yesterday, brought them in, tripped and fell on top of them, broke every last one. I don't even want to think about the money that just went down the drain. So, I'm serious, the link above shows how to make GOOD enclosures at a fraction of the cost... AND you'll be able to construct more should you happen to be as clumsy as I am.
