I was rehousing a P.cam from a larger vial to a small KK about 6-7 months ago. It all went good until the little one decided not to stay in the KK .It jumped out of the vial and ran down my leg, foot and escaped under the couch , not to be found after searching for it for a long time.
Yesterday my son was cleaning his room and called me to come get a large tarantula out of his room. I thought that he was joking with me. I went upstairs with a deli cup in hand and I found a pleasant surprise. It was that P.cam that got loose months earlier.
It was almost double in size and a pretty awesome color, too. I'm sure that it had eaten a few escaped crickets in the months that it was running loose.

Welcome Home P.cam; Welcome Home!

they are fast, aren't they:D
i had one, when he came in the mail i couldn
t even get him from his vial into his new jar because he kept jumping at me.
so i waited a bit till he calmed down - i thought. well he ended up running laps around my ex's back, arms ... you name it.
after he was caught, he always ran up to le lid at feeding time.
they didn't put "red lightning bolts" on his feet for nothing.

congrats on the recapture of the escapee

Wonderful news! I'll bet your son was surprised. I also had a P. cambridgei go MIA once for almost 8 weeks before he turned up. This morning I found a H. maculata that disappeared as a sling and was wandering down the hallway-15 months later-measuring a full 3 inches now. It evidently doesn't take much to sustain them. Just a few run-a-way crickets. Di

giving me hope

I had a P. cambridgei go totally spaz on me on Monday, went flying out of it's vial so fast I didn't even react. Went flying off the table, under the couch, and then became invisible by using his cloaking device. It's only about 1/2" so pretty much invisible. Still looking. Think I'll turn some pinheads loose. OK, maybe a bad idea. It'll probably crawl in bed with me some night. Glad you found yours!

I've had an OBT on the loose in my house for a month or two... I assumed the cats got it even though I never saw a corpse... Man, I hope that it's not still in there... My boyfriend would flip out if he saw it. Iæd probably have to give up my whole collection! :\ I've got enough loose crix in my house to sustain a T for years.
