I have been rearing and breeding exotic scorpions for over 10 years now and recently started owning a few tarantulas. I was given this large, older female Mexican Red-Rump a few months ago and it recently it has been behaving and moving very oddly. For example, its movements seem to be frantic and choppy and it seems unable to extend its legs all of the way. It is very thick and has stopped eating around 10 days ago. Is it going through pre-molt or is it sick? It has only been fed large crickets from a specialty, exotic arachnid breeder that I know personally so I do not think it was poisoned. Please help

I see nothing odd other than a T making sure its 8 legs are on stable surface

not enough for me

Doesn't look normal to me. The rhythm of the leg movements is off. No clue what'd cause it, and no clue what you could possibly do about it beyond wait and see.

I agree that the movements are out of whack - a T trying to escape someone poking at it should move quickly and confidently to it's hide, and that's not happening. It seems like it has probably been exposed to a toxin, and just because it may not have come from the feeders that you're confident in, doesn't mean it couldn't have been exposed from another source. Do you have dogs/cats that have been treated for fleas & ticks recently? Any aerosol cleaners or pesticides used in the house lately? Any neighbors spraying their yards for pests? Any new water source being used? If it's been poisoned, there's not much you can do besides make sure it has fresh, clean drinking water and wait to see if it recovers.

I would recommend looking for a vet that knows about invertebrates
