Hi, sorry to trouble you. I'm new to this forum thing. I've owned my beautiful Mexican red knee for around 4.5 years now, since he/she was only a few mm.
Plenty of successful sheds, always ate well and is around 3 inches now.
End of last summer had a bizarre shed.(shed upright finally rolling onto side to remove skin).
Since then not really bothered eating, at first it was waiting for the locusts to die and eating dead prey!? Now won't eat at all. It's starting to look thin where it's always been quite chunky not walking as natural it did. Water dish always full give a little spray once every two weeks round the sides, temp is spot on.
I've read all sorts on internet that they can go months with out eating but this must be almost 10 months and I'm starting to worry now.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Matty

Someone did recently post about a wild-caught aphonopelma that was MM at 3".

A pix would help.

Oh gosh, that enclosure is far too tall for a terrestrial tarantula! They can rupture their abdomens so easily, at just a few inches of a fall. I believe I read 3"+ can be fatal.

I also hate to tell you that I am pretty sure your tarantula is already dead. That looks like a death curl. Have you given it a gentle tap to see if it is responsive?

It's definitely still alive I thought I would show it at it's worst. It was walking round earlier on, went over to water dish dipped a couple of feet in and had a little walk round.

Well, I'm not sure what happened but I again have to say that enclosure is dangerous for your T. Also that one rock just takes away from space your T could burrow into, and it's also another hard surface it could fall onto and hurt itself. I see those two rocks in the corner look like a makeshift hide? But it doesn't seem very stable.

Hi thanks for getting back to me. I have taken I board the enclosure is too high. I queried this in the store I bought the enclosure from. He keeps all his t's in them so I thought it would be ok. The hide in the corner I dug it out and placed the rocks over it. I assure you it is stable. My T has never made an attempt to burrow but seems to use this one more than any other I've supplied over the years.
But maybe it has had a fall I that I don't know about as I've never seen it climb doesn't mean that it hasn't. I will remove all the slate and try think of something else to create a hide out of. Thank you for your time.
