I decided to try to post some pics of my beasties. I don't have the best camera so they aren't fabulous pics but I thought my little guys deserve to be introduced to you guys. I'm pretty new to the hobby. I have only been collecting since Dec 2006... so a lot of my ts are still slings... I don't like taking slings out of containers just cause they're so delicate...and fast... and I'm a super duper klutz. :D

I'll start off w/ Venus my Singapore Blue. She actually took home the "Best Arachnid" award this past January at our local reptile show.

My newest acquisition is Polly the GBB.

This little guy is my fave. He's molted since this pic but he's still a juvie. He's one of my H macs and his name is Rayon (French pronunciation).

This is my juvie... um... N carapoensis... not sure the common name... Brazilian Red, maybe? I call her Jaba the Fat Butt... can you tell why? She's all dusty from working on her burrow.

One of my juvie OBTs named Carrot.

This is one of my juvie H gigas named Euclid.

This is an old pic of my female H gigas, Tina (her mate's name is Ike)... I could try to get a recent pic of her but every time I try to clear off her burrow w/ my paintbrush so I can see her she steals my paintbrush.

This is one of my juvie B boehmeis named Stein.

One of my juvie greater horns named Dagoth... or Daggy. She's working on her burrow.

One of my B smithi slings, his name is N.U.F.A.N.... should be showing adult color on its next molt... of course he just molted a week ago and I thought he'd be showing colors now. :p

One of my curved horn juvies, Dasher... she's still so tiny, though, she's almost still at a spiderling stage.

This is my M balfouri sling, Paycheck. Not showing adult color, yet, but you can bet when he gets bigger I'll be taking way better pics than this.

This is my RCF rosie, Mars. She just molted last week and is GORGEOUS... and a confirmed female...

My 1" versi sling, Shadow. I just like this pic cause of his "pom poms" on his legs. Arboreals are so cute when they have those.

My P fortis sling, Biscuit... still showing his Christmas tree pattern. What is up w/ ts pooing in their waterdishes??

This is our Cobalt named Furiae. Since this pic she has mysteriously lost one of her legs.

And this is my A genic juvie named Big red.

More of my pets to be posted later!

Hey, thanks! When I get "braver" I'd like to get a nice piece of wood or some sort of background for my ts to pose against. I'm not sure enough of myself to take them out of their homes, yet.

I will try that. I've heard/read arboreals can still climb out of tubs, though... have you ever experienced that?

Haha, maybe I'll chill on the arboreals for a little, then. I have quite a few terrestrial/burrowing ts I can get pics of, though. Thanks!!

Haha, thanks! Every T I've ever had has had a name... all 200+. Not like I can remember them all by sight, especially w/ the little "black dot butt" slings... but once they get bigger and their personality shows through the names start to become memorable.

Thanks guys! I've gotten so much more comfortable around my tarantulas from when I first started this thread so no more "through the glass" shots for me. Haha, helps to have a friend present to take some of the pics while I'm wrangling, though. :D

Some very nice T's and pics you have there Bell.

About the bath story....They CAN run up and very quickly. Not just aboreals, my Minax went running up when rehousing him/her. I think that it depends on the material of the tub. I still prefer using it as it is better to catch a runaway, but with an adult Pokie, I'm sure it won't make a difference.

Hehe, that's why I will come up with another solution when the time comes.

I most recently tried the bath thing w/ three MM C brachycephalus I needed to ship. Well, I dunno if it's the tub or what but they had absolutely no trouble climbing up it. ...I wasn't expecting that so there I was w/out a catch cup. Fortunately they're cool little buggers and don't mind "the large hand from above" coming down to move them back into the tub. haha...

My new plan, for at least re-housing, is the let them run free on the carpet for a while until they tire or I feel comfortable catching them. That actually works extremely well with adult pokies. The carpet kinda slows them down and/or for some reason they just stop running and you can easily catch cup them. That's been tested w/ four adult females pokies of all different species but with the same outcome.

I have a lot of empty space at my house, though, so it's easy cause they don't have anywhere to hide.
