I'm looking into getting a couple of stick insects, can anyone point me to a good care sheet?

I have found a few pages of info but not much for care. I guess the main things I was wondering about it the adult size and can I keep 2 together.

Why not mention buying sticks on the boards? is it illegal? I don't want to keep illegal species.

All phasmids are illegal. :(

However, I'd expect the same or similar care as other sticks from similar habitats.

If you need anything else...feel free to PM me. :)

It is legal for US residents to keep native US species I assume, though the assortment is rather dull... :wall:

Yeah...every time I see a phasmid mentioned, I just assume it's exotic :wall:

Does that one happen to be native?

We have a few species here. Definitely not as cool as the foreign ones. We don't have any phylliums like the pic above. It is legal to keep US ones though. You're just not supposed to ship them anywhere so if you want "legal" sticks you have to get them from the state you live in. That's what the USDA says anyway. Actually the only bugs you can ship without a permit are spiders, feeder roaches and bees. Of course people ship stuff around all the time but those are on the ok list apparently. I thought it was interesting that you aren't supposed to ship "dangerous" animals through USPS but a big box of bees is just fine. I guess next time you don't want a package crushed just write "live bees" on it :)

This page has some info about them and some other cool US bugs.

Also, I noticed people selling sticks on the boards as "feeders". Do you think that's an actual loophole or are they still illegal to sell and buy if they're "feeders"?
