My buddy has mecynorhina torquata and quite a few other species of beetles. Are these beetles legal here in the US? I have a chance to get some .He raises them and says they are legal.Yet I have not seen anyone with tennis ball sized beetles on here in the US.He has all kinds of beetles that are monsters! I just dont want to get some, take pics and post them and then get in trouble.Anyone?

I've heard that exotic herbivorous insect species are illegal without some type of usda permit because of the risk of it becoming an "invasive species" (they don't want any more "emerald ash borer" or "asian longhorn" types I guess). But if that's true, all the people who keep phasmids over here in the states would technically be in big trouble too, right? and there are a few other people I know of who breed those large tropical beetles. I just don't know...:wall:
