Measuring bearded dragons

I've seen a few articles around the net on sexing bearded dragons. One such article says it's hard to determine sex if they are less than 7-8" STL. What does STL mean?

Also, I've seen measuring them snout to tail. Does this mean snout to tip of the tail or where the tail begins?

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

STL is snout to tail length, full length from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. SVL (snout to vent length) is also used since lizards with nipped tails are not uncommon, which is measured from the tip of the nose to the vent opening where the tail starts.

That's what I assumed. In that case I have an 8" STL beardie and was trying to figure out about how old it may be and if it's big enough to sex. Probably going to look into getting one of the opposite sex and let them grow together.

Thanks for the response!
