He wasn’t mature before, he is nowView attachment 477006
My Tlitocatl albopilosus matured in 2022 and has just decided he's not mature enough and molted again. Isn't that pretty rare? I hope he survives. His abdomen got stuck in the molt but I hope I removed the most harmful part
Oh yeah, sorry, didn't see the emboli on the exuvia!we can all see the picture of the exuviae that has emboli, so yea that gives credence to the claims, not to mention it has come up a couple of times on AB, so it's not unheard off
survival of the mature males can range from about 1-3 years after maturing, some longer lived ones have reports of up to 5 as far as i remember, maybe even longer
He's not hardend up yet but the pedipalps look kind of deformed or do they always look like this right after molting? Its calles a post-ultimate molt. Pretty rare yea, and most dont survive it. Nature hasn't really gifted them a plan on how to go on and most dont make it out of their skin without either ripping their emboli or even whole pedipalps off, or even more common they get stuck in the molt and die that way.
any pics of his pedipalps?
Sucks if there is no genetic plan to shed their sexual organs....
I tried that earlier, he didn't like it and got stressed and tried to kick hairor you could try dripping a few drops of water right between their chelicerae into the web underneath
i wouldnt mess with the substraten right now
