Hello everyone!
I have a young Mastigoproctus floridanus that I bought from MJS Reptiles at an expo this August. It's maybe around an inch long, and eating well (one cricket leg once a week). I read somewhere that Mastigoproctus giganteus molts 3 or 4 times (I can't remember which exactly) when growing to adulthood, and that it takes about a year between each molt. Is this true? And do the molts occur more frequently in Mastigoproctus floridanus since it's a smaller species? There's really no info out there on these guys, except for Orin's book (which I will be purchasing soon).
I have it in a 4x4x1.5 which is mostly filled with moist substrate. It's dug a tunnel to a cave made out of a broken clam shell at the bottom, and it comes out to explore every night.
I was wondering if it molts so few times, then it must gain a substantial amount of size with each molt! Now I'm concerned my enclosure may be too small. What do you guys think? Thanks!
