I'm sure this was discussed before, since these guys were discovered in 2002, but they're still awesome and I'm sure there's still plenty of people who haven't heard of them.
They're an order of insects previously known only from fossils, and the first new order discovered alive since 1914.

They really do look like the missing link between mantis and phasmid, and behave like both.
