My dad found me this mantis and I decided to try and keep him as a pet. Here is some pics:

Thanks guys, he just caught a yummy fly this morning for breakfast He moves around alot though and I found him laying on his side but hes not dead so I picked him back up. Anybody know why he was on his side?

not really sure why he would be on his side... just make sure to mist the side of the cage once a day so that he has water. its very important to them. i used to keep mantises and they would always want to drink the water droplets.

They are fun to watch while they are stalking their prey!

Ok, I'll give him a light spray when I find the spray bottle.
I honestly don't think there is a law against keeping them. My dad has kept them all through out his childhood and no problems with the law. Idk though. If there is I guess I'm gunna get arrested

If thats a law, its retarded. They do nothing but keep the local bug populations in check, and are no threat to humans.
