mantis hunting garden spiders?

I saw this image recently and I am wondering whether mantis actually hunts spiders from their webs. Seems risky business for mantis

I've personally witnessed mantis' taking yellow jackets, stink bugs, orb weavers, & even a hummingbird that pissed me off, because I thought he was at the feeder catching bees. I think that if they can overpower it, it's a meal.

Awesome, I saw one stalking a black widow the other night when it was busy with a grasshopper. Came back a few minutes later and no black widow lol

I saw a nature documentary we’re one ate an orb weaver just flew right threw its web and made a Meal of it .
I don’t know if it will eat such a large one as your picture but it’s possible.
Check back later see if the spider is gone.
