I was wondering if anyone knows of any good information sites on mantid species of the southwestern US ? I have seen several over my wanderings and would like to get a positive ID. I have eggs cases from a female that was collected from around phoenix that I would like to know what they might be before they hatch out. I have found a few ok sites that covered two species that can be found in Arizona but I know that there has to be more then that.

Your Eggs

Hello David,
Do you have a picture of the oothecae (egg case) they say that every sp. has a differ. style kinda like our finger prints. If you had a picture I may be able to help you figure out which you have...

Eggcase Pictures

Here are two pictures of the egg case. The female that laid this was collected in phoenix if that helps any. She is suppost to be "greenish" in color which leads me to think that it might be Brunneria borealis-Brunner's Mantis which is suppost to be down in that area. But I dont know.

MAntis ooth

Hello all,
the ooth look like Stagmomantis ooth, perhaps S limbata.
Brunera borealis are smaller and not as elongated as the ones you have.

The eggcase is only about 3/4 of an inch long at best. I was trying to get a good close up with these pictures. Thanks for the two names that you gave me I will look them up.
