I have a 20gal long that I want to transform into a tropical terrarium, complete with plant lights and a humidifier. I'm looking for a mantid I could keep in such a tropical environment that would fit into a 20gal. Any suggestions?

As for the size, I think any mantis would fit in that enclosure size, as long as it provides all the mantids needs

i really reccomend lining one wall and up to the cieling with mesh for safe molting. just plants + wall and they will have trouble sticking to it when they are about to molt, they lose grip

other than that and making sure its twice the mantises height

Probably a leaf mantis species like Peruvian leaf mantis or something like that

Oh nice I just haven’t been able to find any online at all and where I live I can barely find a mantis outside so I get all of mine online

20 gallons is huge for any species of mantis. Most species only need a fraction of that space. Still, if you insist upon using a 20-gallon for a mantis display, I would recommend a communal setup for more peaceful species such as Phyllocrania, Gongylodes, Heterochaeta, etc.
