Can you buy only male dubia roaches? I read they won't burrow and disappear for months if the T misses them. It seems my guys and gals will only eat em alive so crushing the head is out.

They still move around with the heads crushed... But yeah I'm sure anyone would be more than happy to sell off just males, and they do run around more for sure.

A few sites when I was googling offer just males , although I prefer a mixed colony so they breed I don’t have to buy as often. I only feeed off males.

I feed my spiders both. It's not hard to know when they are wanting food. Male's do run around and that does make it easier to just drop and go,but I feed off my females to balance my colony out.

I do feed male's as well more than females but it's like I said a balance for my bin full.

Not to mention that you have a group of the same sex you will soon find them munching on each other if you don't provide the proper care .
Don't over think this.

Between 3:1 and 7:1 (F:M) is the optimum ratio for dubia breeding, so many people just feed males off, at least until the colony is as big as they want. I have a bin of extra males because I don't have enough large spiders to keep up with mine, and they get along just fine until a female is introduced.
