I have a newly molted male that's been loading his palps with sperm - it's awesome to watch him spin the web and maneuver to drop the sperm, then collect it.

This is my first adult T and male. Anyone know how much time I have, roughly, until this guy croaks? I notice that he's metabolizing like crazy - his abdomen shrinks pretty quickly now after feedings. He's eating well, though.

The web spinning and palp actions really burn energy - it takes him about 1-1/2 hours of constant action to complete the web, sperm deposit, and draw into embolus. He done it 3 times (that I've noticed) in the past week. His last molt was on June 18.

I think I may try to get him out on a breeding loan to get him a piece of T booty before he curls up ;) !

Males tend to last a year or so after their final moult - you should definitely send him out on as many breeding loans as possible :)
I think we owe it to th ehobby to breed our T's, personally :)

I had two Avic males and they lasted anywhere from 8-10 months. One was an A. versi and the other was an A. hurriana.
