Hello,

Recently been seeing Malaysian jewel centipedes for sale, and am thinking about getting one. I haven't been able to find a lot of info on them online.
Has anyone here had success keeping these guys?
I know they like cooler temps is 65-70 about right?
How do you guys achieve these temps by cooling a room or using a cooler?
I'm in a cold state so I'm not too concerned about the winter months, but summer can get mid 70's
I really want to get this right any info or advice is greatly appreciated.

Our cellar remains 18°C (65F) during summer, drops to 15°C in winter.

just keep it around 65° and it will be fine. i don’t know why people pretend that they are only for “veteran/advanced” keepers. very easy to keep if you just keep it at 65°

I'm guessing these are a highland/cloud forest species then?

It's been so many years and no one has been able to prove them out in terms of breeding them that I'm aware of. Is there any actual captive bred specimens out there? If someone has bred them, I would like to see real proof. If there is a thread or something of someone breeding this species in captivity with success then I would be intrigued. Too many people are just buying them but no one wants to buy pairs or attempt breeding them since there isn't much information to go on to be fair.

I saw pedelings for sale for the first time this year, but I don't know if they were CBB or just CB from a WC female. With more and more people being successful with pedes in general, I wouldn't be surprised if they were genuine CBB, but like yourself, I'd also like to see a documented success somewhere.

pedelings were available this year, pretty sure they're being captive bred and sold for $$$

But where are the breeding reports? I know people are selling pedelings, but it's the breeding reports/documentation that gives credibility to the captive breeding. So i'm still waiting on that so it can become something reliable for future hobbyists.

i doubt that any of the malay jewels for sale currently are true CB. all of the plings are born in captivity but come from a WC gravid mother

Why would they need to publish breeding reports?
