i tried to feed my tarantula, she refused to take it and the maggot fell on the substrate. it dug right in and it was too late for me to take it out, is it okay to leave it there? im not sure how long it can live in the coco fiber. it was a maggot for fishing bait. my tarantula doesn’t show signs of being in premolt so im not really worried about that in particular. im gonna observe the enclosure to see if it comes out

btw i bought the live maggots like 6 days ago. maggots generally live for like 8-10 and there’s no potential food for the maggot to eat in the enclosure

It depends on the type of maggot and how close the tarantula is to moulting.
The real danger is if the maggot (or whatever it turns into) is something that would feed on the tarantula should a moult occur.

its a fairly small fly maggot. about 6mm long. and so far the tarantula isn’t showing any signs of being in premolt (btw she’s about 6cm in diameter)

I would dig it out just to be safe because I'm not sure exactly what species of fly it is.

If in doubt, take it out.
i tried to look for it to take it out but i cannot find it anywhere. now im not sure if it made its way further in the terrarium or if i accidentally already crushed it with tweezers
