I was feeding my Avic today, with tweezers, and she hit it hard, made me jump a lil. So if this any indication of the "power" that the Usumbra can have, I might look towards another T. Any suggestion on a T, with the looks with out the tude?

Thanks

William

Any brachypelma are usually good, but some can be flicky. Or you could get more avics or a chilean rose, never enough avics!

Uhhh... An avic's power is nothing compared to the force present when the usambara strikes its prey. Have any of you tried holding the tank whilst feeding, and waiting for the spider to catch the food? There's a lot of force that goes into it!

Try it sometime!

But hairyspider, go for the usambara, you'll love it. A little fear is healthy, and it'll make a lot of other species seem less-scary and in theory should make you more relaxed with them...

more relaxed with them...
some species, like pokies, should never be underestimated, they are fast, agressive and have dangerous venom. Sure, you shuldn't be quaking in your boots when working with them, but you shouyldnt lose respect for the animal.

I have never had any problem with my Usambara, she would rather run and hide then deal with me. They are fast though, and they do love their crickets! You should stick with the Usambara they are awesome T's you just have to be a little more careful then with an Avic.

peace

Ours stays in her flower pot all day. She comes out at night, She won't attack you if are changing her water or putting crickets in her cage. She comes out at night though lately if she sees us she won't run but used to everytime she see you she would run back into the pot

If it is the bright colors, the propensity to web alot, and considered semi-arborial but not really arborial that you are looking for, then try C. cyaneopubescens aka Greenbottle Blue.

I think that you will be happy with this.
