Look at this friendly little fart. Don't worry I gave the bugger plenty of space, despite his best efforts. I do not like when animals get comfortable with humans, it leads to dangerous interactions. This just made me smile though. This raccoon was orphaned and taken in by cats, he now lives on an orchard with them. Best wishes to the little guy 🙏😭

I think animals and humans are made to interact.

its our society that is wrong.

nothing wrong with humans and animals living a moment when intentions are right.

we cant stop living because of a brawl of bros or a raging pick up driving pappy.

No one knows about Luna. The Orca in BC. It went to humans when all his family was lost. It chose us.

My regret was being born in wrong province.

I think this is an awesome perspective.

I suppose I'm more opposed to people intentionally feeding wild animals like deer and bears. The amount of deer encounters I have had that turn aggro cause I refuse to feed them, is honestly kind of ridiculous. I don't think I need to explain why people shouldn't feed wild bears...

☝☝☝. Guy thinks he can speak to bears or something, ends up fighting one with a frying pan ☠. Keeping in mind Grizzlies play with dumpsters like they are toy cars. It's hand is about a foot across with 4" claws and they are primarily solitary. RIP Grizzly man and associated parties, if only they had not decided to live amongst and interact with wild bears year round. Seriously a tragedy but infuriatingly avoidable.

There's no comparison between Ursus americanus / Bllack Bears & Grizzlies

Ursus arctos / Brown/Grizzly - much more aggressive

Ursus maritimus / Polars in a world unto themselves

Rare Bears

Tremarctos ornatus / Spectacled Bear from South America, last of the Short Faced Bears in existance also endangered.

Melursus ursinus / Sloth Bear is an Old World Bear that should be treated with respect as well.

Asiatic black bears have to live alongside elephants, tigers, rhinos, and the like. They are incredibly aggressive as a result.

Any bear has the potential to do serious harm to a human. Caution and common sense are your friends. There is no such thing as too much space between you and a bear, if you need that picture get a big lens.

While it is true that Grizzlies are more aggressive than American Black Bears outright. American Black Bears are more likely to predate upon people than Grizzlies... Let that sink in.

Grizzly Bears account for twice as many Human Fatalities from attack as opposed to Black Bears attacks.
However, I certainly wouldn't want any Bears Teeth to Sink In

Let dumb peeps keep doing dumb things.

I’m 1,00,000,000,000% against helping stupid people when it comes to wildlife esp feeding.

These human animals clearly have faulty genes, well Darwinism weeds out bad genes, and this is one mechanism!! Keep taking photos too close, keep doing whatever is stupid with other animals so you DIE and your stupidity genes are not spread in the gene pool.

My issue is when I'm trying to enjoy the natural world, and get harassed by deer that are so used to people that they get mad if you don't feed them. I have been charged on numerous occasions. When the stupidity of people impacts the safety of others, something needs to change.

Fun fact: deer are the third most dangerous animal in NA, second goes to mosquitos and first is, not surprisingly, humans.

Explains why I freaked out one night seeing them even though they can’t jump over my fence . The horns are sharp !

Never had that happen. Define dangerous? I'll take a deer over a grizzly any day.

A charging stag approaching your flank is enough to shake anyone if you ask me. Aggressive mothers during calving season are even scarier, they don't back down and they will pursue you for a good while.
Imagine that but with a bear or a moose. I've had run ins with moose, one of which got spooky. Thankfully I wore brown pants that day.

Deer are considered dangerous mostly due to them being involved in a lot of bike accidents and car accidents. Their numbers and comfort around people results in quite a few bad interactions.

Danger in regards to the capabilities of an organism to harm and kill other organisms. I haven't seen any mosquitos with guns, or bears with helicopters for that matter...but I'll let you know if I do 🫡

Thank- cars I know about. But those are accidents, generally not a deer charging etc. I've never been around deer that were upset at me for whatever. very odd.

That is very true, but deer often bound and leap when escaping. This results in them smashing through windshields much more often than most other animals and does can weigh anywhere from 70-120lbs while bucks can reach close to 200lbs. The result is more often that not, quite grizzly.

As for the aggressive deer...I spend a lot of time in the bush, mainly for environmental work but also for recreation so I tend to run into a lot of animals. The reason they are aggressive in my local natural parks is due to people feeding them to the point that they expect it from every individual who passes through the area. It is incredibly unfortunate. Calving season is another story, deer will always be on edge during this time. During calving season you can just give them space and you will be fine, sometimes you run into a very stressed mama though and you have to make yourself appear large while also backing away slowly. Deer expecting food on the other hand, will chase you down no question.
