I may be obtaining a macklots python from craigslist. i did some research and I was told (what i read) as these snakes mature they get less nippy. is this true? does anyone have one of these?

I want one because its a python however it doesnt get to a crazy size of like bigger than 12 feet so thats good for me.

any/all information will help.

in my experience macklot's can be nippy no matter what age they are...it depends alot on how much you handle it and of course the individual snake itself...if you handle it lots and feed it out of cage the chances are good that it'll be a good snake...otherwise it could get nippy...now don't get me wrong...a macklot's is not like a scrub python by any means...they are generally calm...but they are apt to become cage aggressive with little or no notice...

personally if i was thinking of something on the smaller side that i wanted to handle i'd go with something like a woma or blood python if you want something that's still gonna get a bit of size and a children's or spotted python if you don't mind something that'll stay pretty small...

just some thoughts:)

blood pythons are very thick and can weigh as much as 45lb...but they only get to be 6ft max...they're a member of a family known as "short tailed pythons" (don't know the scientific term sorry) so basically what you end up with is a short fat snake...they're all the fun of a burmese with half the length issue...think of them like the Bud Light of pythons:)
