My 4 1/2” female LP spends pretty much all her time in her hide and has been very obviously tunneling as I find piles of sub at the mouth of her hide from time to time. Is this normal and if she decides to mount inside should I be either removing the hide or moving her? Full shallow water dish at all times and heating pad under her hide where she’s doing the majority of her tunnel work.

Take the heat mat out from under it you're gawna cook you're T, you should be putting the heat mat on the side of the enclosure, even then how cold is it getting that you're using a heat mat? A Tarantula will burrow to get away from heat that could be the case also.
If it's tunneling and blocking off the entrance to the hide it's telling you to leave it alone, just wait and keep it's water topped up.
If it's just burrowing for the sake of it, yes most terrestrial T's will still burrow a bit even arboreal T's will burrow a bit if given the opertunity. So nothing to worry about there.

So I had the heat pad under the actual terrarium but have since pulled it, it brought my temperature up to about 25 Celsius, and I added a ton of substrate since my original post about getting her basically only leaving the area directly where her b hide is at it’s original depth at max 7” maybe 7.5” fall height

What's the room temps though you might not need a heat mat at all. 7 inch head space is fine when you're T is 4 ¹/² inch. If it is in premoult too they jump quite a bit after moults at that size, I had one go from around 4 to around 6 in 1 moult.
Was probs a bit over 4 and went to a bit under 6, but still quite a big jump.

I’ve gotta warm apartment, not sure of actual temperature but the terrarium is close to a heat vent as well

Yeah deffo don't bother with any sort of heat source for it, rule of thumb kinda is if you're comfortable so is your T. Sound to me like it's ready to moult just leave it be and top it's water off that's about all you can do when they get bigger too there out all the time ime.

Agreed, remove heat mat. Burrowing is normal for the species. It will probably sit out more as it gets larger and more confident.

Heat pad has been pulled for about 4 hours now, temperature is still sitting at 25 so it would appear you were correct lol, hopefully my baby girl moults soon!! The other morning I noticed her front legs just poking out of her hide, so I figured she may have been hunting. Dropped a cricket in and it was a flurry of front legs and La Hefa disappeared back into her hide 🤟

I have an L klugi and if you provide enough substrate, they will be fossorial 95% of the time. Many terrestrials will. All of my Nhandu's with the exception of my Tripepii like to burrow as deep as you allow. I don't mind seeing them less. I'd rather have a T that isn't stressed.

That’s good to know, I was more concerned that she may have been borrowing out of stress, she’s opened up the area in her hide quite a bit and I’m sure she’s tunneling as well. Got any suggestions for good new world terrestrial species that stay out a lot? I’ve been looking at the C. Cyanopubescens

I love my GBB. Beautiful T's often visible and web like nobodies business. If you want something beefier and gets large I would go with the A geniculata or the N tripepii. All 3 are amazing T's and fast growers. An honorable mention would be the G pulchripes (though they are slow growers).

I forgot to mention this. I would also recommend a T albo female that is well started. I got a female as a freebie due to a screw up on the vendors part. Let's just say I'm very glad they screwed up. Super chunky, and put on a crazy amount of size in 1 year. All of those T's would be great. Get 2 though!

I was thinking about a GBB actually, there’s someone selling one with the enclosure, an adult as well for 200$, enclosure included due to heavy amount of webbing lol
